| A delegation of Lignano 2011 made up of the members of the Organizing Committee and of CONI will attend the World Master Games, which will begin in Sydney on 11th October.The city of Sydney is getting ready to welcome the event with a spectacular opening ceremony and a wide programme of tourism events for participants.
The delegation is scheduled to meet the people in charge of the main sectors of the Organizing Committee of Sydney 2009 and to visit the competition facilities for the sports included in the Lignano edition.

The Lignano 2011 European Master Games will be presented at the Health & Lifestyle Expo that will be held during the Sydney 2009 World Master Games.
The fair will take place in the showground located within Sydney Olympic Park opposite the stadium where the opening ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games was held and where the opening ceremony of the 2009 World Masters Games will be held as well. |

Excellent relationships have been set up between Lignano2011 and the Organizing Committee of Sydney, thus confirming, once more, that sport fosters ties even beyond competitive levels.
The Organizing Committee assured maximum collaboration already in the preparation stage of the programme of the group of Observers of Lignano, who will attend the event, and has already planned a binding programme of meetings and on-the-spot investigations.

A full working day to analyse in depth the project of the Lignano 2011 European Master Games: at the meeting there were the President of the Organizing Committee, the vice-president of Friuli Venezia Giulia's Regional Committee Luca Ciriani and for the IMGA the CEO Jens V. Holm. The topics concerning the sports proposed by the project of Friuli Venezia Giulia and the promotion related to the event were studied in depth. The General Manager of TurismoFVG Andrea di Giovanni was also present to work out the promotion plan of the event, which aims at providing participants with the opportunity to visit Friuli Venezia Giulia as well, to the discovery of the attractions of the region. |

Emilio Felluga, the president of the regional delegation Friuli Venezia Giulia of CONI (the Italian Olympic Committee), presented to the regional council of CONI the general lines and the motivations of the project of the Lignano2011 European Master Games. The sports master Ernesto Zanetti gave full details of the technical and sports part of the various disciplines which at present are included and that will be re-examined after the verification of feasibility that will be carried out during the on-the-spot inspections at the Sydney 2009 Master Games. At the end of the illustration he asked for the participation of the sports federations finding an immediate willingness to cooperate. Twenty-eight federations assured their willingness to support the technical competitive organization that, considering the great competence and experience of the same, sets the event at maximum technical-organizational levels. |

Today in Atene the Mayor of Lignano, on behalf of the President of the Bid Committee, the Vice President of the Government of the region Friuli Venezia Giulia, Luca Ciriani, has signed the Host City contract for the organization of the EMG in 2011.
The road for well hosting “Master Games” is starting. |

The Evaluation Commission of IMGA has finished its visit and the briefing with satisfaction for the quality of the project of Lignano and region Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The final decision will be made in 2nd June at the meeting IMGA of Athens. |

Visit of the IMGA Evaluation Commission
The IMGA Evaluation Commission just arrived in Lignano today. President of the EC is Mr Tamás AJÁN, IOC Member in Hungary, President of the International Weightlifting Federation and IMGA Executive Board Member. The other two members of the EC are Mr. Břrge Kaas-Andersen, IMGA Secretary General and Jens Holm, IMGA CEO. Mr. Kai Holm, IOC Member in Denmark and IMGA President also attends the visit.
